Discovering Radical Defense’s Cutting-Edge Suppressors with Rob Orgel at CANCON 2024
Hey everyone, Rob Orgel here, still at CANCON 2024, and today we’re uncovering some truly innovative tech at the Radical Defense booth, or RD as they like to go by. These guys are all about pushing the envelope with their 3D printed suppressors, and I just had to dive in and learn more about what they’re bringing to the table.

Radical Defense: Specialists in Belt-Fed Suppression
Located out of Houston, Texas, RD has carved a niche for themselves with high-performance suppressors primarily designed for belt-fed machine guns—yeah, the heavy hitters. We’re talking about serious gear for serious firepower. But it’s not just about handling the big guns; they’ve adapted this technology beautifully for carbine applications as well.
Tackling the Gassy Problem
If you’ve followed my channel, you know I’m no fan of back pressure. It’s a nuisance, especially when you’re laying down some heavy fire. RD’s got what they call ‘breathable technology’, which significantly reduces back pressure, ensuring that the shooter’s experience is as comfortable as it is efficient. This technology is all about letting the suppressor breathe better, reducing the gas blowback without needing to modify the host weapon or adjust its gassing.
A Specific Focus on Common Calibers
RD isn’t just throwing out generic solutions; they’re tailoring their tech with specific models for 5.56, 300 Blackout, and 7.62 NATO, among others. For instance, their 7.62 NATO can was initially designed for a military customer specifically for 300 Blackout. This sort of bespoke development speaks volumes about their commitment to quality and specificity.
The LS5 Suppressor: A Standout Performer
Let’s talk about the LS5 for a second. At the Silencer Summit event hosted by Thunderbeast, the LS5 was rated as the number one can for decibel reduction. That’s no small feat, especially considering the stiff competition in the suppressor market. It’s clear that RD is not just another player; they’re leading the charge in sound suppression.
Hands-On Testing: The Real Proof
The proof, as they say, is in the pudding—or in this case, the shooting. RD has set me up to test these suppressors myself, and I’m itching to get started. We’ve got demos lined up, and I’m particularly excited to test their models on different barrel lengths to truly gauge their versatility and performance under varied conditions.
Looking Ahead
As our conversation wrapped up, it was clear that Radical Defense is a company that’s going places. Their innovative approach to suppressor design, especially in reducing back pressure and enhancing user comfort, is something every shooter should be excited about. I can’t wait to bring you all detailed reviews and testing footage of these suppressors in action.
